We’re all cousins

Are all chickens related? I would guess so, in order to be considered a chicken, but I don’t know.

But I do know that if you go back far enough we are all related. A few years ago, I taught young children for singing time on Sundays and did a Jeopardy day with the truth that we are all “cousins.” Each and every one of us, who have ever been or will ever be on Earth.

The young children were so excited as I told them: You belong, You are loved, and You matter.

They shared stories of their grandparents, sang their families favorite songs and we even used slinkies another day and brought them all touching to show we are all part of the same family tree. It may twist and bend, may not be the most even or complete, but we are all connected. Every family tree is different, in the people in them, as what you know about the tree and where you are at in your research.
